Home Tour

Originally built in 1895, the house was painstakingly rebuilt and restored in 1999.

Our objectives in carrying out the restoration were three-fold:

  • first, to retain the historic character and charm of the original home;
  • second, to take advantage of the spectacular setting by opening up the home and bringing in natural light; and
  • third, to introduce the modern amenities of the 21st century while not intruding on the home’s original character.

The result of the project is an unqualified success. We have retained the original wood floors in the main dining area, restored the original tin ceiling in the dining area, and refurbished the mantles in the living room and master bedroom. A new open staircase to the second floor is an exact reproduction of the rails, spindles and posts of the original house. Beautiful oak and birch trim in a 19th century pattern throughout the house add to the historic ambience of the home.

By installing three new dormers and five large arched windows, we have converted a little-used attic into a beautiful loft offering spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. A large sun porch with cathedral ceilings on the first floor and large 2-level decks provide wonderful settings for relaxation and peaceful enjoyment of the beautiful vistas.
